Actual cost

Actual Cost represents incurred cost loaded or entered against a project. Each record should retain a stable source reference and complete project coding for reconciliation.

Review checklist

  • Confirm job, phase, cost code, WBS code, item, and vendor values as applicable.
  • Confirm transaction type, transaction date, reference, quantity/rate, and amount.
  • Compare the same posting period and status when reconciling to accounting.
  • Investigate rejected inbound rows before manually creating replacements.

Actual cost does not automatically replace a related commitment. Reports may use both values when calculating total exposure, depending on the approved financial policy.
